BETH BARSTOW
Professor Elizabeth “Beth” Barstow is an occupational therapist, researcher and internationally recognized expert in low vision rehabilitation. She is Professor of Occupational Therapy at the University of Alabama and a Fellow of the American Occupational Therapy Association. Beth combines extensive clinical experience with research, teaching and international education focused on helping people with vision loss maintain independence and participation in everyday life.

Across all three days of the conference, Professor Barstow will deliver an extensive programme of practical, evidence-informed sessions spanning diabetes, low vision rehabilitation and neurological vision loss.
Her presentations will explore Strategies to Promote Effective Diabetes Self-Management in People with Vision Loss, before moving into a full day of multidisciplinary clinical learning. Sessions include Integrating the Revised Self-Report Assessment of Functional Visual Performance (R-SRAFVP) into Intervention Planning and Goal Setting, From Prescription to Participation: Addressing Optical and Assistive Technology Issues in Practice, Fall Prevention and Management for Individuals with Vision Loss, Low Vision Rehabilitation on a Shoestring Budget, and Keeping People at Work: Vision Loss Should Not Equal Job Loss.
Beth will also lead interactive case-based and interdisciplinary sessions focused on translating clinical knowledge into practical strategies for everyday independence.
On Day 3, she turns to neurological vision loss with Seeing Beyond the Field Cut: Evaluation and Intervention for Hemianopsia and Facilitating Psychosocial Adaptation to Vision Loss: Intervention Approaches, exploring both the functional and psychological impact of vision loss and evidence-based approaches to rehabilitation.
