EYE CARE AWARENESS MONTH -21 September to 18 October

Dear Member, 

The above posts have been developed as an educational drive for you to disseminate to your patients , post on your own practice websites, etc , in alignment with Eye Care Awareness Month ( ECAM) , which is commemorated from 21 September 2022 to 18 October , with World Sight Day falling on 13 October . 

Of relevance is that the theme for ECAM is ‘ Love Your Eyes’ , a continuation from last year, which is a call to action , and an appeal to members of the public not to take their eye health and vision for granted.

Please note that ECAM is preceded by World Retina Week

( 19 to 25 September) and followed by National Transport Month ( October). Appropriate posts and materials will be forwarded to you in due course.

BLIND TEEN MOTIVATING OTHERS TO SEE BEYOND DISABILITY – JESSICA PITA

Despite having lost her vision at the age of 11, Jessica Pita of Alphen Park has continued to achieve her goals.

The 19-year-old, who is classified as legally blind, lives to share her courageous journey with people about how she overcomes day-to-day struggles as a blind person through motivational speaking (Mission with a Vision brand), online platforms and a podcast called Flying Blind.
