DEIDRE DE JONGH

Deidré de Jongh is an experienced optometrist specializing in complex visual disorders and neuro-optometric rehabilitation. A former President of the South African Optometric Association, she has extensive clinical, academic and professional leadership experience in South Africa and the UK. Her interest in the impact of brain injury on the visual system led her to establish Eyemind Neuro-Vision Rehabilitation Centre in 2017. Today, she has a particular focus on visual dysfunction associated with concussion, traumatic brain injury, stroke and neurodegenerative disease.

Deidré will explore the complex world of functional visual integration, examining how visual-perceptual integration deficits can disrupt everyday function, slow recovery and compromise performance. Her presentation will challenge delegates to look beyond conventional measures of visual acuity in the quest to understand and address the functional impact of visual dysfunction.
