Effects of Light on Circadian Rhythms

R195.00

Light plays a central role in regulating our circadian rhythms, which in turn influence sleep quality, hormonal balance, immune function, and overall health. For clinicians, understanding how light exposure affects circadian timing is essential in recognizing and managing disorders linked to circadian disruption. This course will address our circadian system, how blindness alters circadian regulation and it will provide insights into therapeutic strategies, including light-based interventions, to support patient well-being. Learning Objective for Effects of Light on Circadian Rhythms

1. Explain the physiological role of light in regulating circadian rhythms and its impact on patient health.

2. Identify health conditions or effects associated with circadian misalignment, including those caused by inappropriate light exposure.

3. Describe the unique circadian challenges faced by individuals with blindness and potential treatment approaches.

4. Identify the timing of light exposure that best supports clinical recommendations for improving sleep–wake health.
