Description
Beth Barstow is a professor in the Department of Occupational Therapy at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She serves as program director for an international Graduate Certificate in Low Vision Rehabilitation offered to occupational therapists. She has over 30 years experience evaluating and treating individuals with vision loss. Dr. Barstow’s research resulting, in peer-reviewed publications and presentations, centres on facilitating occupational performance for persons with disability including those with low vision and blindness. She is author and co-editor of the textbook, Occupational Therapy Interventions for Adults with Low Vision. Dr. Barstow has achieved her specialty certification in low vision rehabilitation from the American Occupational Therapy Association. She is recognised by this association as a fellow for her work in educating occupational therapists in the field of vision rehabilitation. Dr. Barstow has also worked with the Occupational Therapy Association of South Africa serving as an expert reviewer for their Low Vision Taxonomy.
