Description

Founding Member & Chairperson of the Driver Fitness Coalition

Haley Norval graduated from the University of the Free State in 1997, beginning a career dedicated to transforming lives through occupational therapy. To broaden her clinical expertise, she relocated to the United Kingdom, where she spent two years working across various National Health Insurance (NHI) facilities. It was during this formative time—particularly while working at a premier private rehabilitation center in Surrey—that she developed a deep foundational knowledge in physical rehabilitation and impact of chronic pain.

Upon returning to South Africa in 2001, Haley channeled her experience directly into physical rehabilitation. Her entrepreneurial spirit and clinical drive led her to take a bold step into private practice in 2005. This passion culminated in her becoming the founding owner of a physical rehabilitation practice, RehabMatters in Johannesburg, a specialized practice where she spent 20 years dedicated to adult physical rehabilitation.

While building and growing this practice, Haley discovered a profound interest in fitness-to-drive assessments. To fully specialize in this niche, she pursued extensive training, including traveling to Sydney, Australia in 2019 to achieve her formal accreditation in Driving Assessment & Rehabilitation. Over the years, she has combined this expertise with a specialized focus on low vision, continuously upskilling herself to provide cutting-edge assessment and rehabilitation for individuals with various visual impairments.

Haley’s dedication to the field extends far beyond her own practice. As a visionary leader, she is one of the founding members and the current chairperson of the Driver Fitness Coalition, a non-profit association established to train and mentor occupational therapists and health professionals in the specialized arena of fitness to drive.

Haley lives in the Western Cape where she continues to serve clients in her private practice
